UNIT 9- PRODUCING AND PERFORMING TO AN AUDIENCE

Monday 21th  may For this unit i was given the responsibility of being the technical director and stage manager of the level 3 acting final show. In simpler terms, i was in charge of all production aspects of this show. This meant my job included taking ideas from the acting students and creating them, sourcing props and costumes, over looking the well being of the actors, making sure my tech crew was informed on what their jobs are, reading through the script and marking it up with cues, and through out performances calling the lighting and sound cues through canns headsets, for example when being stage manager I would say 'standing by LX 4 and SFX 6..... SFX 6 and LX 4 go.' SFX- sound effect     LX- Lighting cue Today I visited the drama students in the studios to see how rehearsals are coming along and to take in requests for production. each student was allocated a production role and I spoke to each  group of students for every area eg. costume, lighting, so...

LOGIC

We learnt the basics of logic and was given an explanation of MIDI. MIDI stands for musical instrument digital interface, and it is a language that enables instruments talk to each other in binary code. The velocity of music can determine the emotion and dynamics of the music. We recorded s four bar loop and we used quantisation to improve timing errors, then we used velocity and the scissor tool. We did a four bar loop because western modern music is written in multiples of four so the dj can mix it easily and it makes scene to the listener. 27th september looked at percussion set a four bar loop tempo and metronome made 4\4 kick pattern with a snare on the 2 and 4 then added syncopated bats between the down beats and the upbeats 4th October 2017 Editing task https://soundcl...

TRIP- ALADDIN

Tuesday 20th March Today we was lucky enough to be taken on a trip to see Disney's Aladdin at the prince Edward theatre. I thought the show as a whole was brilliant and really portrayed the magic of the original story. However not flawless. The set design was amazing from extremely detailed pattered curtain at the beginning to the revolving huts to the magic carpet and LED starry night curtain and secret trap doors. The music from the live orchestra added to the atmosphere and made the theatre more alive. The dancing wasn't beautifully technical as such but worked very well with the space of the stage and fitted to the Arabian theme. The actor that played Aladdin really struggled to place his accent and fell somewhere between american, British and some kind of Italian or Spanish, it was confusing. The spot light was awful and very shaky and struggled to light the actor from head to toe. The costumes where amazing, they where colorful and revealing but correctly appropriate for...

UNIT 7- SELL YOURSELF

Unit 7 - Sell Yourself In tutorial we discussed the new 'sell yourself' project where we have to prepare 3 monologues or musical theater songs and perform them and market ourselves. My 3 pieces  my stimulus is 'want' 1. sally's monologue from buried child ; this was the safest option as i am very familiar with it and is the monologue I performed at my audition to enroll at this college. 2. Rita's speech at the union meeting, fighting for women's rights, from made in Dagenham.  This monologue was also a safe option but fits very nicely with the stimulus 3. Take me or leave me from rent.  this song is a duet between 2 lesbian characters Maureen and Joanne when they reach a dilemma in their relationship because of their differences. This song was a big risk however my tutor kept on telling me to take a bigger risk and stop performing things that are very safe and similar. T

UNIT 6- THE DUMB WAITER

Unit 6 - The Dumb Waiter 5/1/17     - In today's acting lesson we where working in the theater. We had an introduction to the new script work assignment. We where all given a script of 'The dumb waiter' and we read it through as a group taking turns to read aloud. The script, written by Harold Pinter, consists of 2 characters; Gus and Ben. Gus and Ben are two assassins waiting in the basement of a restaurant waiting for a call. The dialogue is the two characters chatting and wasting time. The status roles between the two characters are clear and I would say Gus has a very low status of 2/10 because of how forgetful, stupid, annoying and childish he can be. However, Ben has a higher status than Gus, and i know this because of how controlling, belittling, and clever Ben is compared to Gus. My personal opinion of the script is that theres a lot of context and the roles can be as big as you want to make them. I  partnered with Carla and given the part of Gus from page...
